El Paso, TX — The El Paso Transportation Authority (ETA) has an important service update for riders of its ETA Transit routes in rural El Paso County.
Effective January 1, 2025, Route 84, which provides rides to and from Socorro will be discontinued. In order to improve and expand service for ETA Transit riders in El Paso County, times and stops along Route 40 and Route 50 have been updated. New maps and timetables can be viewed or downloaded by going to elpasotransportationauthority.org/routes-and-passes.
Because the City of Socorro’s City Council has declined on several occasions to participate in EPATS, LGC, ETA’s routes will no longer make stops within Socorro, necessitating the elimination of Route 84. In order to help residents who live along or near Route 84, ETA has updated Route 40 and Route 50, including expanding service hours and adding additional stops. These updates will be in effect beginning December 27, 2024, to help riders of Route 84 transition to new routes.
Please note that transfers from ETA Transit routes to Sun Metro routes are no longer available. Riders exiting ETA Transit will now be required to pay full fare when boarding Sun Metro buses.
Socorro residents who require paratransit services are still eligible to apply and utilize ETA Access’ services. Learn more and apply at elpasotransportationauthority.org/access.
ETA was created by the El Paso Transportation Services, Local Government Corporation (EPATS, LGC), in order to replace El Paso County Public Transit and better service riders in rural El Paso County. ETA comprises of ETA Transit fixed route services, which now services routes previously provided by El Paso County Public Transit, and ETA Access paratransit services for people with disabilities. EPATS, LGC, currently comprises of El Paso County, the Town of Horizon City, City of San Elizario, Village of Vinton, Town of Clint, and Town of Anthony.
