El Paso Transportation Authority to Discuss New Executive Director

El Paso Transportation Authority to Discuss Finalist for New Executive Director at Upcoming Board Meeting 

El Paso, TX — The El Paso Transportation Authority (ETA) board will discuss and take public comment on hiring its first Executive Director next week during its upcoming board meeting. The meeting is scheduled to take place Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at the Enrique Moreno County Courthouse, 500 E. San Antonio Ave., Rm. LL106.

John Andoh, Transit General Manager of the Redding Area Bus Authority, in Redding, Calif., is the sole finalist for the position.

Andoh, would bring more than 25 years of experience in public transit to the position. He began his career at just 13 years old as an intern at the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority in San Jose, California. Over the years, he has held leadership roles in transit programs across Hawaii, Columbia, Georgia, Austin, Jackson, Mississippi, and Yuma, Arizona.

ETA administers several key transportation programs, including the ETA Transit fixed route rural public transportation services in El Paso County and ETA Access paratransit service.

“The hiring of ETA’s first permanent Executive Director marks a significant milestone in our mission to connect rural communities with the quality public transportation they deserve,” said interim Executive Director Xavier Bañales. “We encourage the public to share their feedback during Wednesday’s board meeting.”

The El Paso Transportation Authority (ETA) provides fixed route (ETA Transit) and ADA Paratransit (ETA Access) service in rural El Paso County. ETA is administered by the El Paso Area Transportation Services, Local Government Corporation (EPATS, LGC). EPATS, LGC, was created to encourage and assist local municipalities to cooperate in providing regional public transportation solutions in El Paso County. ETA’s services were created to improve on services previously provided by El Paso County Transit.
